If there is such a thing as a 100% positive experience with a roofing contractor, what would it look like? My answer is: the recent work that Rite-Roof, of Brookfield, WI performed on my home. They weren’t the cheapest, but they weren’t the most expensive. In hindsight, they provided excellent value that met and/or exceeded my high expectations, and I’d refer to my family and friends. Here’s why…
(1) Starting with the bid process, Russ Clark came to my home on time, did a thorough inspection, and provided me with a timely quote. Some competing roofers that I got quotes from really turned me off with their high pressure, manipulative tactics. They attempted to strong-arm me into signing their contract immediately because of some alleged massive price increase the next day. Fortunately, there was none of that nonsense from Russ. Rather, he competently represented Rite-Roof as professionally as could be expected.
(2) Further, of all the proposals I received, Rite-Roof’s was among the clearest about what was & wasn’t included, and it was the most comprehensive.
(3) When Rite-Roof finally came out to do the work, they did so in a logical and orderly way, ensuring that if unexpected inclement weather developed, my home would be protected.
(4) As can happen in any major project like a roof job, unanticipated issues came up. There are just some things that a contractor can’t know beforehand unless they are gifted with x-ray vision. To Rite-Roof’s credit, their contract spelled out in advance what would happen in most such instances (e.g., the need for replacement of roof decking). But the real test was when things came up that weren’t spelled out in advance (e.g., issues around venting). Much to my delight, in those cases, Rite-Roof took care of everything without running up the bill.
(5) Rite-Roof’s lead roofer, Cameron, is as knowledgeable as any contractor out there. When the job was in progress, he determined some ways to save a few dollars that helped offset emergent work fees. It was a huge relief to interact with someone who was as fair & square as Cameron.
(6) Unlike some contractors I’ve hired over the years, Rite-Roof came out and worked on consecutive days until the job was completed, rather than hopping between jobs.
(7) As far as I could see while watching the Rite-Roof crew in action, everybody knew what they were doing. I saw nobody who appeared to be learning on the job, who might unintentionally do inferior work.
(8) There were a couple of items that Russ and I discussed that failed to make their way to the contract. Not to worry, Russ assured me these things would be taken care of as part of the total project cost. And true to his word, they were.
(9)The old saying that no job is done until the paperwork is done held true for me. In this case, being GAF Certified installers, Rite-Roof completed all necessary documentation to ensure that GAF registered my warranty in a timely manner.
(10) In preparation for my roof tear-off and replacement, Rite-Roof took much care in protecting the rest of my property and landscaping from inadvertent damage. Further, for anyone who’s never experience a roof job from inside their home, here’s a heads-up: it’s traumatic! The incessant pounding, sawing, and nailing can be unnerving. Fortunately, Rite-Roof performed their work within reasonable hours, so as not to drive me or my neighbors crazy.
(11) Re-roofing is one of the largest projects most homeowners will undertake. It also results in massive amounts of debris. Rite-Roof exhibited great care in cleaning up each day and at the conclusion of the job.
(12) I noticed one very minor issue a couple of weeks ago reported it to Russ Clark. Cameron quickly stopped by to attend to the matter without any fuss. Any contractor can provide a paper warranty. The best roofers will actually honor it. And, they’ll do so in a reasonable timeframe.

I have used 1-800-RITE-ROOF for several, different jobs over a few years: Gutter installation, a tear-off roof installation, a flat roof installation and roof repair.
